| The thought of a tragedy happening in the town of Chelmsford is a chilling one. Be that as it may, the risk that tragedy may occur remains constant in our town. The variable in this case is the increased chance that the town’s Fire Department will not be able to avert such a tragedy while under staffed. | |

| In
1995 the city of Taunton closed one of it’s fire stations due to a
“lack of money in the budget.” Shortly after the station closing, a fire in that station’s district resulted in the death of a five year old child. It was only then, that the city found the money to reopen the station. |
